Clients who enroll in Accent Pros’ American accent training programs will have exclusive access to a Google Voice number. Clients can call this number 24/7 and leave a voice mail about whatever they wish. Our director John Atchley receives this voice mail in an attached e-mail along with a transcription provided by Google. The portions of the transcription in bold type indicate Google was fairly confident in what a caller said, whereas grey text demonstrates uncertainty. Although the transcriptions are sometimes inaccurate, this technology allows Atchley to get a rudimentary understanding of your accent. Additionally, the system can e-mail the transcript and voice mail to interested clients. This tool can quickly become an important part of your American accent training as you work toward established personal and professional goals.
American Accent Training: Reach Out To A Friend
If calling a voice mail number and leaving a short accent sample with us feels unnatural you can always practice your American accent training with an established language partner. This person should have an understanding of what of you”re hoping to ultimately accomplish through your American accent training, but they don”t need to analyze your speech or accent. They act as merely a sounding board and should allow you to talk freely about anything. As hard as it may be, try not to become overly self conscious about how you sound, as this will only increase your chances of mispronouncing a word. Whenever possible take note of any words you are confused by or are unsure how to pronounce and mention these terms at the start of your next American accent training session.
